The original version of Destiny 2 Ikelos Shotgun was officially called the Ikelos_SG_v1.0.1 and was one of the most coveted weapons prior to the Forsaken DLC. In the Season of arrival, this much-loved gun made a comeback, with a new name, IKELOS_SG_V1.0.2, and a more desirable perk pool.

What is the Ikelos Shotgun

The SG_v1.0.1 was widely used prior to forsaken and was considered the best shotgun in the game. The new version is still an exceptionally good weapon, with a much bigger pool of perks, nevertheless is still a legendary, rapid-fire frame shotgun, available from the final boss chest in the prophecy dungeon.

You can still get the old one from the escalation protocol’s final chest, however, that is not the version unaffected by sunsetting. The one you are looking for is the one dropping from the prophecy. Unfortunately, it is not a guaranteed drop, so you might have to run several instances before the gods of RNG smile at you.

It will be your best options regarding the barrel are fluted barrel, arrowhead brake, and corkscrew rifling. Probably your best bet is arrowhead brake but the other two are also workable.

For the magazine, the appended mag and the tactical mag are your go-to, the latter being the better option, with that extra reload speed and stability. In the primary traits you are looking for a feeding frenzy, but here you have such a variety of good possibilities that it’s really whatever you get, you get, and you should try it on for size.

Escalation Protocol is a public event style arena that occurs in the Braytech Futurescape area of Mars. To have a chance to get the shotgun, you must complete level 7 of Escalation Protocol. The boss that spawns on level 7 has a chance to drop the Ikelos Shotgun.

Keep grinding Escalation Protocol until the shotgun drops for you. It May take many runs as the drop rate is low. Using Fortune and Wealth of the Emperor consumables can improve your chances. The shotgun can also rarely drop from Rasputin engrams earned from public events on Mars. But the most reliable way is to keep completing the level 7 Escalation Protocol.

Once you get the shotgun, you can acquire random rolls by completing Escalation Protocol level 7 again. Grind for your perfect roll. The Ikelos Shotgun is energy (solar) so pairs nicely with kinetic primary weapons like Hand Cannons or Pulse Rifles.

So the drop rate is fairly high. Also, you could farm this dungeon as the drops are not limited to one legendary per chest per character, so as many times as you open a chest, (except the hidden ones) you will get a legendary drop. After you got your first drop you could even get it from unfocused umbral engrams too.
