Disgaea is a series of tactical RPGs developed and created by Nippon Ichi. Disgaea 6 Defiance of Destiny is a tactical role-playing game made for the PS4, Steam, and the Nintendo Switch. It is being developed by Arcobaleno Studios and published by Nippon Ichi Software. It is the seventh game in the series and focuses on a human boy named Kai who somehow managed to enter the Netherworlds. Disgaea 6 initial release date was 28 May 2021.

The Disgaea series first launched in Japan on May 30, 2003, with Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. The game takes place in a fictional world called the “Netherworld” and is known for elements, such as very high maximum stats, difficult gameplay, and witty dialogues. The main characters in the series often include sarcastic, power-hungry antiheroes forced to fight alongside their heroic counterparts.

Disgaea 6 Release Date

Disgaea 6 Defiance of Destiny was released for PS4, PS5,  Steam, Windows, and the Nintendo Switch. The game had an initial release date of 28 May 2021

Disgaea-6-onlineWhile we don’t have an official release date for Disgaea yet, the game was confirmed to be in production in May 2018. However, there’s still a while to go before the final game comes out. The latest game release of the series was Disgaea 5 Complete on May 3, 2017.

Nippon Ichi Software President Sohei Niikawa confirmed in an interview that the developer is currently operating on Disgaea 6.

The PlayStation 4, Switch, and Steam. That’s the general strategy going forward. There’s a lot of talk of PlayStation 5 right now, and don’t know when it’s going to come out, but as a company, we definitely want to be on there very early – one of the first companies to put something out on it.  This goes back to earlier in the conversation, but again, just going forward making Disgaea 6 up to the level that everyone is expecting.

Disgaea 6 Review: As for the structure of the new game, we do not have any official knowledge yet but Niikawa did express his willingness to revisit fan-favorite characters from previous games of the series, including Prince Laharl and the demon Etna in the first game. However, I would not expect them to feature in a primary protagonist capacity as the series is already known for its numerous cameos by characters from the previous games.

It is much more likely that ‘Disgaea 6 Defiance of Destiny will follow an entirely new group of protagonists, with characters like Laharl, Etna, and Flonne making brief appearances. Of course, we can expect signature series characters such as the cute Prinnies, which are hand-stitched vessels for the souls of dead criminals, the Prism Rangers, a troupe of Power Rangers-inspired parody characters, and more.

Disgaea 6 Gameplay

As we already know each Disgaea game consists of a number of missions that you undertake from a central hub. In the hub, you can manage equipment and team members, heal your party, and other functions. When you are prepared, you can then travel to the next available mission as well as replay any mission you have already completed. Missions are normally organized in a number of chapters with cutscenes before and after to advance the plot.

The story of Disgaea 6 Defiance of Destiny starts just after Killia saves  Lieze by combining the Ultimate Skill with the Overloads of his friends. With The Lost defeated, the Netherworlds begin rebuilding and the group disperses. Killia and Lieze live peacefully on the fringes of the Netherworlds.

After the game’s credits, the rebel army meets again to deal with new threats plaguing the Netherworlds, forming the basis of the post-game. Lieze also joins up with them.

NIS America sent out an email with a message from President Sohei Niikawa having a new poster that claimed to be the next poster of Disgaea 6. In the poster or image, there is a man with a red hoodie holding a heart on his chest. With this, there is a girl with purple hair and horns with her hand. Down below there is a dog-like character that seems to be a pug-type character.

According to the poster, there is some darkness in the background and some positive vibes coming from the green leaves in the front.  Given down is the message from the president in that email.

The world is trying to change drastically, but our mission has not changed.

We are currently working on multiple game projects in order to bring fun and happiness to as many people as possible.

Disgaea 6 Pre-Order (Availability)

Disgaea 6 is now available for online pre-order only for Nintendo Switch. On Amazon, you can get this game for $59 plus a delivery charge, if amazon is not available at your place then you can preorder it from official websites and there it will cost you $99. The game will be available on 30th May 2021 worldwide.
