You use the cursing type for finding the location of Petra Venj, she is the one who will assign you the Ascendant Challenge. Her locations are – The Strand for Weak Curse, Divilian Mists for Medium Curse, and Rehasilvia for Strong Curse.

What is Ascendant Challenge Location?
Ascendant Challenge is an activity that you play when you reach Dreaming City. You need to complete the entire Forsaken Campaign if you wish to unlock access to the Dreaming City. The Ascendant Challenges in Destiny 2 are always on a weekly cycle where each location shows up on a 6-week rotation.

Ascendant Challenges are challenges that tend to take place on the Ascendant Plane. Every week you will notice a portal at random locations that serve as the path to the Ascendant Plane. Every week the level of the curse affects the location of the Ascendant Challenge. There are a few fixed locations of the Ascendant Challenge and the rotation takes place between these locations only.
