Running a website is not free, unfortunately. There are costs involved – including hosting infrastructure, writer, travel and event expenses, and buying coffee and collectibles – so we’re sorry to say that you might see some ads on Omggamer.
Those ads will typically be one of four types:
Display Ads
These are the banners that you May see around the site. We try to make them unobtrusive where we can, and displaying them helps to earn us some revenue. The display of these ads is in no way connected to the editorial content of Omggamer, but because of the ad technologies used (designed to better serve relevant ads to site visitors), they May pertain to a similar subject matter.
If you have any queries or complaints about an advert you’ve seen (or would like to have your ads featured on Omggamer) then please drop us a line to [email protected].
Affiliate Links
These are ads where you’ll see links to a product that will earn Omggamer a small commission, for example, linking to an online store (e.g. Amazon) to purchase a game. These ads are linked to the editorial content, in so far as they are a direct link to purchase the item which is the subject of the article, but the editorial content drives the placement of the ads; not the other way around. We’ll always be even-handed, and will link to things we don’t like as often as things we do!
Think of it this way: If we’re going to be providing a link telling you where to buy a product anyway, for the convenience of our readers, then it makes sense that we can earn a small commission on these referrals. If you like what we’re doing, then why not consider using one of our affiliate links on your purchase to reward us?
Sponsored Links
Sponsored links are text links on the site, but instead of us having a chance of receiving a referral fee when people click them (like affiliate links) we’ll receive a fee for simply displaying them on the site (like display ads). You can think of sponsored links as a hybrid between the two.
Like affiliate links, the sponsorship of articles has absolutely no bearing on the editorial content. A company or website is paying us to display their sponsorship on an article, but that in no way dictates the content of the article. They May be on somewhat related topics – a hardware manufacturer May sponsor a story in the hardware section, for example – but never when there would be a conflict of interest. A publisher couldn’t sponsor an article or review on one of their own games, for instance.
Please note: We do not write advertorial content. Sponsored links are entirely separate from editorial content, so please, don’t ask us to write an advertorial for you. We’ll just say no, and you’ll have wasted everyone’s time.
Third-Party Integrations
These are ads you’ll see that we have no direct control over, such as those integrated into a video (e.g. YouTube) that we embed in our site. Some of these adverts, like the ones featured in videos we have produced or are hosting, May make us some revenue. Other adverts May be making someone else money, and they’re probably all making money for the third-party service.
Either way, the display of these adverts is a non-optional requirement of utilizing these services. The content of these adverts is outside of our control and is wholly managed by the third-party service provider.

Omggamer is a great place to advertise. We believe that gaming is for everyone, and shouldn’t be aimed at the lowest common denominator. That’s why our style is mature, our content is intelligent, and our site is smarter and more interesting than our peers; don’t video games deserve grown-up coverage?
This, in turn, means Omggamer has an excellent audience profile. Here are the stats:
